Our Worship this Sunday, May 20:
This Sunday morning we will worship our risen and ascended Lord Jesus. Our preaching passage will be Matthew 14:22-33, the passage in which Jesus walks to his disciples on the Sea of Galilee. They thought he was gone from them forever, just as we MIGHT think Jesus is gone from us because he has ascended to heaven. Yet he came to help them, even to lift sinking Peter from the waves, to hold his hand, even though Peter took his eyes off Jesus. This passage anticipates Jesus' Ascension to heaven as it prepared his disciples for Jesus' departure from them; yet it gave them assurance that he would never leave them, even though they doubted and even after Peter tried to walk to Jesus without looking at him. Is that OUR problem too?
In combined afternoon worship at Maranatha (30o Scott Street, St. Catharines), Pastor Jim will continue in Revelation to chapter 11, the ongoing vision of how Christians not only survive, but boldly thrive in the face of persecution and opposition.
Please join us ~ Have a blessed week.
